After several years in the football industry, Andrea Padovan successively found a role as Transport Coordinator for the Qatar 2022 Football World Cup and Arrivals and Departures Project Manager for the France 2023 Rugby World Cup, which he found through Global Sports. He took up his position within the Rugby World Cup in April 2023, and tells us about his career development and the responsibilities of his new role.

Congratulations! This is the second job you have landed through our platform. Can you tell us about the journey to land this new job and how Global Sports is helping you build your professional career?

When I saw the job offer on your platform, I immediately applied. After a few weeks, I had a video interview with the Tournament Service Manager and then, I had a second interview in person and he made me an offer that I accepted. Global Sports has been very important in building my professional career, because it helped me find my last jobs, for the Rugby World Cup France 2023 and the Transport Coordinator position at the Football World Cup Qatar 2022. For these reasons, I would recommend Global Sports to my network, because the platform gave me the chance to get two opportunities in the sports industry.

"Global Sports is a very intuitive platform and really helps to find a job in the sports industry because it has most of the main opportunities on its website."

Can you describe your experience using the platform for your job searches and applications?

Global Sports is a very intuitive platform and really helps to find a job in the sports industry because it has most of the main opportunities on its website.

. I find it easier to look at job offers on a single website rather than having to search for job offers on different websites. Another thing that I think is very interesting is that you can receive emails from Global Sports where job offers are announced that are more in line with your experiences or what you are looking for (role, city of work, employer, etc.): this way, you have personalised and constant help for your searches.

"My advice is not to be afraid to take on new challenges and study languages to have more opportunities to work abroad too."

What are the motivations that led you to work for the Rugby World Cup France 2023? How did it stand out as an employer?

I believe it is a great opportunity to improve my skills and enrich my professional and personal experience, it is always interesting and stimulating to live in a foreign country.

The Organising Committee stood out well as an employer, and the HR department and my manager help me with the bureaucratic procedures. They were also very welcoming.

You have just started your new job, you have several years and different experiences, can you compare your experience so far with your expectations/experiences of working in the sports industry?

In my first experiences, I worked almost exclusively in the football industry so I am very curious and motivated to work for the Rugby World Cup France 2023 and discover this new world.

In addition, this is my first real planning experience so I am very happy with this new challenge, it will be fundamental for my professional career.

What are your missions as Arrivals and Departures Project Manager?

My missions as Arrivals and Departures Project Manager are to develop the national Arrivals & Departures concept for the nine host cities of the competition and define the reception procedures for each type of accredited population.

I work closely with airport and rail operators (SNCF) to produce operational plans and I train the on-site coordinators who will have to guarantee the decentralization of operations during the competition (I will be in charge of operations at Charles De Gaulle).

What advice would you give to people looking for a new opportunity in the sports industry?

My advice is not to be afraid to take on new challenges and study languages to have more opportunities to work abroad too.
