GlobalSportsJobs is pleased to be supporting the 3 rd edition of the General Management Program (GMP) at the SPOAC - Sports Business Academy in Duesseldorf, Germany which begins in September this year. We explore the programmes scholarship scheme and how you could be part of this unique ‘experience of a life time’ sports business education.
This year’s Generalal Management Programme (GMP) brings with it more focus on internationalisation by offering an additional module in Madrid and opening the programme to international participants. SPOAC’s slogan for this year is the “Experience of your Lifetime”. SPOAC is awarding scholarships worth 55,000 euro to send SPOAC scholarship recipients on a one-of-a-kind trip through the world of international sports business.
Between September 2017 and August 2018, the three scholarship recipients will be invited to five different major events included on the global sports event calendar. These will be the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, a Real Madrid game in the UEFA Champions League, the VELUX EHF Final4 in Cologne, Germany, a Drone Champions League race in Romania and a visit to the Intel Extreme Masters run by the Electronic Sports League (ESL) in Katowice, Poland. In addition to getting a look behind the curtain, these events offer scholarship recipients the chance to network and time to speak in-depth with the event organisers off the record.
When choosing which events to include, SPOAC focused on mixing the largest, most professional sports events in the world, like the Olympic Games and the Champions League, with a rising star like the VELUX EHF Final4 and two, exciting, trailblazing topics like drone races and e-sports. The drone race will take place in a one-of-a-kind venue: a salt mine in Turda, Romania. Intel Extreme Masters is one of the largest e-sports events in all of Europe.
Future managers participating in the SPOAC’s General Management Program will also learn about relevant issues of the future as part of nine topical modules to prepare them for their career in the sports business. The topics range from internationalisation to digitalisation all the way to sales, finance and entrepreneurial thinking.
Each individual’s personal leadership skills are also in focus. Using the Birkman Method, the renowned professors at the WHU will work with the SPOAC participants to create a multidimensional map showing their own personality and their own strengths and potential. This makes it even easier for them to define their personal career path.
Another important component of the GMP is networking. The graduates take part in all SPONSORs congresses, from SPOBIS, which is the largest European congress for the sports business, with more than 2,000 in attendance, to SPOBIS Club Manager and SPOBIS Gaming & Media. They receive personal VIP access to all three events, as well as exclusive access to the Speakers Lounge and the subsequent After-Show Party – perfect locations for building a first-rate network.
The deadline for applications for this year “ Experience of your Lifetime” is the 31 st May 2017 . Find out more information and apply at www.spoac.de/experience .
